Who are we?.
We started The Durban Grill back in 2015 as a family run business due to our love and connection with South Africa and the food it has to offer. Having spent alot of time in South Africa visiting friends and family we decided to bring a bit of Africa back to the UK. Cooking in South Africa is a very big part of the social life and we wanted to share that with you! South African cuisine is something we found the UK was lacking amongst the Street Food community and with so many great dishes and recipes we knew that The Durban Grill would bring over a part of the Zulu and South African culture. To add to this we decided to also incorporate great coffee, made by our two UK Barista Skills Championship finalist Baristas!
What do we do
Our recipes and products are heavily inspired from the Zulu and Durban cultures. Alot of our dishes we learnt and perfected whilst spending time within a small mountain town called Ingwavuma, a few hours drive from Durban itself. We offer fantastic Zulu dishes such as Samp and Beans (a Zulu Curry made from Sugerbeans and Maize Kernals), Maize Meal (a Cous-Cous style dish made from Corn) and Creamed Spinach as well as bringing some traditional Durban dishes such as Bunny Chow (Curry served in hollowed out bread), Buffalo Kebabs and Ostrich Fillets.
We produce our own homemade Biltong (South African Jerky) and a range of great South African drinks and confectionary. This is all rounded off by our great tasting gourmet Coffee!
